Its Been Awhile...

I know, I know... its been almost 4 weeks since I last wrote, but those weeks HAVE been a bit of a whirlwind. I was at home in TX for 2 of those weeks, so I feel as though I should get a pass... I got to spend some great time with family and friends and if you could believe it, it was actually colder when I flew into TX than it was in IN when I left!

My trip started out on the wrong foot completely when I let my notorious airport habits allow me to miss my flight from Chicago to Dallas! But missing the flight would not have been near as bad if the stupid airline hadn't been so completely rude to me! I didn't cause a fuss or act ugly, but they must've definitely been having bad days, because everyone I dealt with at Spirit Air was awful.

I won't dwell on it except to say that I find it incredible that there is seemingly zero customer service involved in flying anymore (if anywhere). There is no one held accountable or responsible, no one wants to help you, and no one has to be nice. It is abhorrent.

At any rate, after what became a 12 hour wait for the next flight I was to be on, I got to Dallas and rented a car to drive another 3 hours to Abilene for my little visit home to begin! Better me than my sister anyway...

So we had a wonderful family reunion planned and it is always fun for me to see everyone. I also think it is interesting to see all my cousins who haven't always been as eager for family time, get more and more into it as they have gotten older and had their own kids. I enjoy being able to spend time with my cousins as adults and enjoy the fact that they seem to look forward to it more as well!

My sister and I aslo helped our mom repaint her bedroom while we were home, and while our Step-Dad may not have appreciated our efforts in the end, hopefully mom will like its new sunnier look. We definitely took some of the masculinity out, but hey- she spends more time there anyway!

I had a great time with my old roommate from college when we got to attend the Austin City Limits Music Festival for the first time together!
Austin City Limits

She goes every year and I used to go when I still lived in TX, but since she is now 14 weeks pregnant, I was thrilled to be able to relax and enjoy the weekend with her. Lets see, this year the highlights for me were definitely Florence and the Machine, The Avett Brothers, The Civil Wars, and a couple groups I didn't expect to see like the Big Gigantics. It was so much fun and I was to happy to catch up with Amber and excited to see how great life is going for someone I love so much.

Thats my quick look at home time just to catch up, but so as not to drone on and on as I tend to do, I will tell you about the shows in another post.... Peace!
