Experiment...

Part of the fun of being an artist is to be able to do something different every day if you'd like. You can change your mind, start over, and change it again. This is the stage I am in. I have done a few projects that are on Etsy... but have since reconsidered my direction, my process, everything... I wanted to share with you some different versions of the same idea I have been tooling around with, but... I don't know... maybe these things are just for me to enjoy in my own home...
I really love these State Flags I made to go above our bed at home. One for TX (my home) and one for Louisiana (Cole's home). I found the words underneath at a store in Cole's hometown, so I adore how they all go together... although my mother-in-law was the first to point out that Cole is NOT CAJUN and I am NOT A COWGIRL. Haha... It was just the idea that counted to me. They are sewn from fabric scraps as I enjoy mixing the colors, shades, and textures of different fabric pieces...
This is a pillow case I just whipped together the other day when I needed a special size for a small pillow that got ruined. It is a take on the old Gadsden Flag from the American Revolution. It has always been a favorite of mine. Again, I love the mixed fabrics, but I know it isn't completely working. Still experimenting I guess...

On that note, I got involved with a group of ladies to do an Artist Trading Card swap. I only recently became familiar with ATC's but thought I would give it a go to force me into making something different ... well... making something period these days... But I so far have been excited about the outcome. I am inspired by the process I chose to go with and will be sharing them as soon as I am done! So funny how something so simple can force you out of your comfort zone, only to find inspiration in the new and exciting things you discover! Off to work on them now... Check back soon for their unveiling!
