Okay, Here We Go...

So starts the beginning of several adventures for me. My husband Cole and I have just moved back to the U.S. from Canada where he was finishing his PhD and here we are in South Bend Indiana. I must admit when we first visited South Bend to buy a house (an adventure in itself) we were both a bit underwhelmed. However, I guess I am in week number 4 here now and have found it to be quite a nice size for us and with a lot to do once we have any money :). Cole is starting work at Notre Dame with the rest of South Bend, and after two years of working hard in Canada to help support our family, we have agreed that we are in an okay place for me to venture into the world of creative business! It is exciting and terrifying and overwhelming and and and... so many emotions all at once to try and do what you've always wanted. Will I fail? Will I be awful? Will everyone make fun of me? I have no idea. But I do my best to stay positive and  talk myself into baby steps each day. You are witness, right now, as you read this to one of my first hurdles which will be to fascinate you with my adventures along the way!
I thought I might share some of my favorite studio photos since this is where I am most all day every day. The lamp in the corner was my first find in South Bend at a store called Junk Evolution. A nice local artists shop with some of the neatest things at very reasonable prices. I know my mom will be so jealous of my lamp, but don't worry mom- it will be one of the first places we visit when you come up! Also at Junk Evolution, I found this...
Evidently, one the owners (a lovely woman named Char) had a chair that had split down the middle, so she took each half, mounted them and repurposed them as towel racks! I just loved them! When I was in the store looking around, there was a man who asked her about their story and when she told him, he said, "Who on earth would buy something like that?" Haha. I knew my husband would ask the same thing.... so I had to take one home! You can see the seat of the chair acts as a nice shelf as well. LOVE!
Quick photo of some of my favorite new tools. Loving my stamps and wish I could afford more! Ready to get into making my own, but it turns out there are only so many hours in a day!
Last, I only add this because it is one of my favorite things. Mom got me this Kit Kat clock last Christmas and I find something comforting about listening to it sometimes. Other times I guess it becomes a bit daunting to hear the "tick tock tick tock"... reminding me of the day moving on. It found a new home in my studio once it kept getting dislodged by the front door slamming in the living room! I had a vision initially of getting a few of them to program to different time zones... can you imagine?!!? All that ticking! Mom kindly suggested that might be a bit overkill...

Speaking of Christmas though... guess who is putting up their decorations??? No, not me yet. But all of the craft stores for sure!!! My heart leapt when I rounded the corner to all of those fake pines! I will get some pictures to show you. Who doesn't love Christmas time in September?
